The Microsoft Educator Community (or MEC, as we call it!) is a new community site that combines the experience of the Microsoft Educator Network and Skype in the Classroom. This site is a central destination where you’ll have access to over 1.5 million educators around the world, a fresh selection of professional development courses and resources, thousands of inspiring lesson plans, and access to live lessons and virtual field trips.
Once you’re registered on the site (it’s free!) you can gain access to all of these resources which are continually being added to, and also start earning badges and tracking your own teacher CPD progress. To help you get signed up, we have a short video that guides you through the simple process.
We’d recommend that anyone planning on attending sessions in our Showcase Classroom or a #RedefineLearn event at one of our Showcase Schools or Associate Showcase Schools, should sign up to the Microsoft Educator Community beforehand, as certain elements of the MEC will be covered during these events/sessions.
Later this week we’ll also be posting another short video showing you how to navigate the MEC and find content.
What’s in the MEC and why should I use it?
Those of you on Twitter can look at the #MIEExpert hashtag to see what our Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts have been using the MEC for, both in terms of the own teacher CPD, and activities for their students.
In March we also ran a series of blogs featuring stories written by the MIE-Experts, all about their experiences using different areas of the MEC, and another piece exploring the wider impact on of the MEC on whole-school CPD. These can be found here:
