Education is one area to have hugely benefited from the technological advances in communication seen in the last decade or so, with the rise of social media and blogging providing teachers from all around the world with a means of quickly and easily documenting their activities and ideas, and a variety of outlets and channels through which they can share their thoughts with likeminded individuals.

Twitter is a particularly popular medium, with teachers from all over the world constantly engaging in global and local discussions around education (#ukedchat being a prominent thread here in the UK), sharing examples of their work, and generally contributing to a vibrant community, with the sharing of knowledge and best practices at its heart.
