Last week our MIE Minute newsletter went out to all of our new Microsoft Innovative Expert Educators, containing their welcome packs and other useful information. Some of this content is relevant to anyone in education, and we wanted to share these items with as wide an audience as possible, so here are three pieces which we hope you’ll find valuable:
OneNote for teachers
With Microsoft OneNote, educators can create digital notebooks that support academic standards and outcomes across disciplines. Students may use OneNote across content areas and grade levels. OneNote also supports research, collaboration, information management, communication, note taking, journaling, and other academic requirements.
There are plenty of great resources to be found on the OneNote for teachers page, and this video gives a nice overview of what can be achieved with OneNote in education:
Touching base on Sway Preview
We’ve already posted a few different articles about Sway, a brand new app joining the Office portfolio. Thanks to the feedback from how people have been Sway Preview, we now have some great examples of uses for the app which we’re sure will inspire teachers to find even more creative ways of using Sway in the classroom.
We recently published a guest post from Jonathan Wylie that looked at ways in which he can see teachers using Sway in education.
Collaborate in the Classroom with new Skype Document Chat in Office Online
The notion of collaborative document creation and editing is by no means a new one. But by brining together Skype and Office Online, we are able to announce Skype document chat. With this free tool, you can go beyond the existing real time co-authoring feature to chat directly within the document you’re working on:
This new tool will be rolled out in the coming weeks, but for now you can click here to learn more about Skype Document Chat.
Just to wrap this blog up on an MIEE note, this Friday we are welcoming a number of our newest Microsoft Innovative Expert Educators, along with leaders from some of our Showcase Schools to the Microsoft Showcase Classroom in our London offices. During the day there will be a number of session and workshops, along with some presentations from Microsoft UK Education team members, as well a chance for the MIE Experts to talk themselves. We’re all looking forward to a great day, and we’ll be reporting how it went with a follow up blog post – stay tuned!
