Tool to Update Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 data inline and Export to CSV for Re-import

Some of you may have been frustrated that before the launch of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, there were many demonstrations showing the ability to export data from CRM to excel and mark this for re-import.

A great example of this would be that you could export a large number of Leads to Excel. Pass this Excel document onto a third party to qualify the leads, working completely in Excel with no need for CRM licenses. Then you could simply import the same spreadsheet back into CRM and all the Leads would be updated.

However, sometime between the Release Candidate version of the product and the RTM version this functionality had to be removed.

A tool has been made available on Codeplex, here, and is open-source.

This is a sample code. that enables developers to take this tool and expand on it to meet specific requirements.

Since this product is released in this way, it will mean that it is supported by the community through the Codeplex site. (If cases are raised with Microsoft Support around this tool, you will receive "Best Effort" support only, and we will have no escalation path available internally if we cannot solve your issue.)
