The surprise is that most development teams today already have the skills and tools necessary to build mobile applications for the Microsoft Windows Mobile platform. This workshop will enable you to see how quickly you can leverage existing development investments to start mobilizing key solutions or functions in your organization. With a practical approach, we will introduce you to the capabilities of Microsoft’s mobile platform. However, we will also cover challenges that any mobile developer will face and introduce you to the tools and techniques to minimize the risks associated with these challenges. As easy as it is to target the Microsoft Windows Mobile platform, a mobile device is not, and cannot be treated like a desktop computer. Learn how to design solutions that work best on portable devices and ensure that your mobile projects start on the best possible footing. We will cover the following topics that will be reinforced with hands-on exercises. Solution Architecture alternatives and associated Microsoft technologies applicable to a Microsoft Windows Mobile implementation: We will first take a look at common solution patterns and components used for device user interfaces, server communications and data storage. Development tools and utilities: Leveraging Microsoft Visual Studio, find out the necessary components needed for successful mobile solution development, testing and deployment. Not limited to tools that help you implement the solution, we will also show you how to gain an insight into your mobile application’s issues and performance problems.
