Take a look at the Quick Start Challenge, it is a great introduction to the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) on Windows 10. Learn all about how you can utilize UWP and earn the chance to win a Microsoft Lumia 950 XL!

In this Quick Start Challenge, we will use the power of Visual Studio to build for the Universal Windows Platform (UWP). The latest version of Microsoft’s custom built IDE enables you to build one app that runs on all Windows 10 devices and platforms.

Complete this challenge to receive a 400 XP boost to your TechRewards account and be entered to win a Microsoft Lumia 950 XL, please make sure to complete the following:

Step 1: Join the Visual Studio Dev Essentials Program (https://www.visualstudio.com/products/visual-studio-dev-essentials-vs) and download Visual Studio 2015. (Using the same Microsoft account as used for Microsoft Virtual Academy).

Step 2: Complete the MVA course Quick Start Challenge: Universal Windows Apps in Visual Studio be sure to complete all modules and be signed in with the Microsoft account used in Step 1.

Step 3: Create a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app following the guidance from Microsoft Virtual Academy course (Universal Windows Apps in Visual Studio) and add a label with your TechRewards display name to your app interface.

Step 4: Publish a screenshot of your app with your username visible to Twitter with #TechRewards and #Sweepstakes tags. Return to TechRewards Take the Quick Start Challenge: Universal Windows Apps in Visual Studio and submit a link to your tweet to the Comments box. *Make sure your username is visible in the screenshot.

This Sweepstakes starts at 12:01 p.m. Pacific Time (PT) on December 18, 2015, and ends at 11:59 p.m. PT on February 29, 2016 (“Entry Period”).  Entries must be received within the Entry Period to be eligible.

HOW DO I ENTER?

To enter, you must do all of the following:

  1.   2. Join the Visual Studio Dev Essentials Program (https://www.visualstudio.com/products/visual-studio-dev-essentials-vs) and download Visual Studio 2015. (Using the same Microsoft account as used for Microsoft Virtual Academy mentioned above)
  3. Create a Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app following the guidance from the Microsoft Virtual Academy course mentioned above and add a label with your TechRewards display name to your app interface. (To register with TechRewards: https://rewards.msdn.microsoft.com)
  4. Post a screenshot of your app to Twitter with #TechRewards and #Sweepstakes tags. (Make sure your display name can be verified.)
  5. Visit the TechRewards challenge, https://mstr.ms/2qHAAv, and include the link to your Twitter screenshot in the “Comments” section and click “Participate”.
