Why oh why do I need Windows professional to use the emulator? You would think that you would make it possible to use every feature on every version of windows. The other platforms don't require this.

    Hi Bryan

This is a requirement as both the windows 8 simulator and Windows Phone Emulator are Virtual Machines and both require Hyper-V support.

Hyper-V is a feature of Windows 8.1 Pro and is required by the emulator which run in VMs.

You can debug and test on a physical phone without Windows 8.1 Pro.
