Developers can visit the Windows Dev Center to get access to all the tools and resources they need to design, build, and sell apps in the Windows Store. While all apps during the preview phases were free, at RTM developers can begin charging for apps, so those with access to RTM bits will begin to see paid apps appear in the Windows Store.

Also, Windows Server 2012 has been released to manufacturing.

On September 4.  That’s when Windows Server 2012 will be generally available for evaluation and download by all customers around the world.  On that day we will also host an online launch event where our executives, engineers, customers and partners will share more about how Windows Server 2012 can help organizations of all sizes realize the benefits of what we call the Cloud OS.  You will be able to learn more about the features and capabilities and connect with experts and peers.  You’ll also be able to collect points along the way for the chance to win some amazing prizes. You don’t want to miss it.  Visit this site to save the date for the launch event.

โ€œMicrosoft didnโ€™t announce what time the images would start showing showing in the downloads section, but weโ€™re guessing it will be around 9AM PDT (12PM EST, 1600 UTC) which is when Microsoft HQ in Redmond starts a new day.โ€

SO relax and check the clock

  3. gotischer says:

Are you guys sure that Windows 8 is going to be available on DreamSpark too? At the moment it seems like it's only gonna on MSDN.

Don't want to wait ages here.

  11. Daniel says:

  13. Tim says:

Hi! Germany is calling. It is already 10:30pm here. So please I need a statement! When will it be available for Dreamspark Premium Students? I wouldn't be that hard to tell us.

  14. Lee Stott says:

    Hi thanks for the comments

Institution Admins can now get access to Windows 8 and Visual Studio 2012 from the DreamSpark Admin/MSDN subscriber portal.

This will allow them to start planning and preparing to install Windows 8 and Visual Studio on institutional labs over the summer vacation period in preparation for the next academic year.

In terms of general availability to students via dreamspark.com and ELMS DreamSpark Premium. This will be made available around 25th of August and no later than end of month.

Students who are NOT presently at a institution or simply on summer vacation can download and install a 90 day evaluation version from http://dev.windows.com

  15. Well I'm friends with my admin and he says its not on their says:

If your telling me it's on their show me proof

  16. On the Hub Writes On FB says:

Hey everyone, we know you're as excited for Windows 8 on DreamSpark Premium as we are. It wonโ€™t be here today, but you will be the first to know when we make it available, promise!….

    Source  http://www.facebook.com/onthehub.network

BTW : On the Hub is the third party which distributes DS-Premium

  17. Don't you think that's a bit discrassful msnda users was ment says:

To get it today guess we not important

  18. Tim says:

Oh no! Another 2 weeks to wait. I was so happy the 15th finally arrived. I am very sad right now ๐Ÿ™   They shouldn't call it "Dream Today, Create Tomorrow" it should go like "Dream Today, Create 2 weeks later"

Just bought new ssd and made all preperations and now the only thing I can do is set up win8 90-day evaluation copy, just to set the whole system up again in 2 weeks. Just Great!  Greetings from Germany

  19. Tim says:

.. oh and just one more thing came up in my mind. Will we students get Visual Studio 2012 at the same time with Windows 8 Pro or later/earlier on DreamSpark Premium?

  20. Confused says:

-> Tim – I think there's visual studio ready same as W8, so it depends on the institution Admin… :/

  21. ... says:

can the evaluation copy be expanded with an original win8 key?

  22. Tim says:

Nope! You have to install it all over again… that's why I am so unhappy that we have to wait another 2 weeks for the dreamspark release.

  23. Kieran says:

All the literature said Dreamspark Premium customers would get this on the 15th and better yet, alot of it still says that the Dreamspark Premium accounts DO have access to it.

What's so bad about admitting they made a mistake?

  24. Rob says:

Bit of a dissapointment since I'm actually waiting for Server 2012. Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer.

  25. Windows 8 says:

    Wait….,continue waiting…., and wait 4ever………… ๐Ÿ™

  26. Boo! says:

Students on vacation=a lot of time to be used for testing out/writing new software like Win8 and Modern UI apps… It's a shame they chose to delay the availability by 10 days.

  27. Tobi says:

Will Visual Studio 2012 also be available for us students in "August 25th – 31st" ?

  28. Milo says:

@Lee Scott Can we install msdn version and then enter key when windows 8 be available in 10 days? Is it same SHA?

  29. Naisho says:

Will regular Dreamspark members be able to get Windows 8?

It'll be kind of unfair if regular members can't be get a copy.

  30. Lee Stott says:

    Hi Thanks for the comments

I just wanted to confirm, what products will be released to DreamSpark and DreamSpark Premium and what the timescale are in regards to the availability.

Please see the following blog post blogs.msdn.com/…/visual-studio-2012-and-windows-on-dreamspark.aspx

  31. Peter says:

I'm from Germany, don't know if it's available every where.

  32. Vinícius Ferrão says:

Where is Windows Server 2012 in Dreamspark Premium ๐Ÿ™

  33. Lee Stott says:

    To all

The Windows Server 2012 will be published, we simply don't yet have a ETA of availability but we can confirm this will before the start of the term. So within the next few weeks.

  34. Windows 8 with its new design and interface features is a great boon to the IT consulting industry and the orders for migrations, systems analysis and new software development projects pile up in the pipeline.  A number of job boards in the UK like http://www.qualifind.co.uk and careers websites in France like http://www.qual.fr are already showing job postings in IT calling for Microsoft experts to take on pilot projects in Windows 8.
