Back to school, but not for me

It's now September and it's the time of year when students return to school.  I remember when I was in school and later on in university, I didn't particularly look forward to September (with the exception of the year before my last year of university as I had a summer job which I didn't like).  After I got out of university and graduated, it often felt a little strange when others were going back but I was not.  This feeling became less and less pronounced when more of my younger friends started to finish school as well.

That feeling had almost gone away for the last couple of years but it has returned this year.  For some reason, the start of September seems to mark the beginning of a new year.  I don't know why this is because I am not starting anything new this month - no schooling, no courses, no programs, no anything.  It seems that Microsoft is starting over with a new "fiscal" year (sort of), maybe that's what's causing it.
