I fancied downloading the Virtual Earth SDK 5.0 from here for more of a l:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=24e08cbd-8875-4368-b4fc-cbc210d4ce72&displaylang=en&tm

And all I got was a help file and no executable

  2. Thanks for mentioning this.

    Eric

  3. Note: You don’t have to wait until the 15th to register – Prometric let me register now.

I do volunteer programming for a non-profit, so I plan on using Virtual Earth to supplement the membership locator.

  4. Peter Read says:

Tried to register for November but the prometric site won’t let me pick any date outside of October for this exam.  Tried a half dozen centres.  Checked for other exams as seemed weird one test centre was free for the rest of October but fully booked for November…  And appears lots of space in first fortnight of November.

    Date range they’ve got wrong?

  5. Peter Read says:

sorry was late my time when I posted the above – what it was meant to convey in an intelligible way was "I think Prometric have the date range for the exam wrong"

  6. trikah@microsoft.com says:

Matt, unfortunately I am lame and dont know anything about the product download itself – is different group all together. I think there is a Virtual Earth team blog and they’d be the right ones to ask.

Peter, I forwarded your mail on to make sure there is no funny business. Thanks for flagging, will let you know what I hear.

  7. I totally agree with Peter Read. I just called Prometric and they told me that the period ends Oct 31 and the test cannot be taken in November.

I told them that the beta exam period is officially until Nov 14 but they told me sth different…

  8. trikah@microsoft.com says:

The People Who Know Things, and Who Know People, tell me that as of this afternoon the record has been set straight and Prometric should be accepting registrations through November 14. THanks for flagging this you guys, and let me know if you still have trouble.

  9. Peter Read says:

thx Trika, seems to be offering the right dates just gotta wait 5 minutes for the page to load… (guessing their infra still isn’t geared up for doing registration for 100% of the MS exams)

  10. Great works fine (at least via phone)! Thank Trika!

  11. Peter Read says:

Yep got there eventually, 2nd time lucky.

  12. Trika was nice enough to point out that the beta for the Virtual Earth Certification Exam is now available.

Has anyone some links on the internet to prepare for this exam?
