Is that Stranger in a Strange Land in your pocket or are you just glad to see me.

As a result of your heckling, I am heads-down finishing Stranger in a Strange Land, so I can’t do any work, respond to e-mail, or blog about anything. I’ll start doing work stuff again soon, maybe Thursday morning. or Friday.

Until then, I remain,

Just An Egg

PS my brother, who reads scifi exclusively, is visiting me (a non-scifi reader, exclusively) in Seattle. He did a double take when he saw me carrying the book around (“I THOUGHT that looked like Heinlein!“). He totally approves of my job now. I think I’ll tell him I’ve started gaming, too. He’ll freak out.

    Never thirst!

Seriously, that book alone has influenced a lot of people I know.  Got them through some late-teens disillusionment.

  2. Plummeting stocks crumble his empire. Mars is destroyed by a comet. And he is forced to continue his religious mission on Earth. Enter David Koresh :-) And you thought it was fiction.

Next stop either "Friday" or "Glory Road" or "Job".

Don’t plan on getting much done for a while.

I enjoyed all of his books – but strongly recommend:

The Moon is a Harsh Mistress (got me much more focused on computers)

then Friday (which is just great on many levels – though maybe not so deep as Stranger)
