Exchange Server 2007 Credentials and Exams: Live Meeting Recording

Two good meetings yesterday on Exchange 2007 credentials, exams, related training, and timelines. Is there an upgrade path from any existing certifications to Exchange 2007? No, there are no upgrade paths, neither from 2000 or 2003 credentials. The technology leap from 2003 to 2007 is too extensive to cover in an upgrade exam. <Rob explains this well in the recording>

Does my MCSA or MCSE: Messaging Specialization expire? Do I have to earn the new Exchange 2007 certifications?

No, and no. Your MCSE or MCSA: Messaging certifications will continue to hold their value in the marketplace for as long as there is a need for skills on Exchange Server 2003. The Exchange 2007 certifications are intended for professionals who are, or will be, using Exchange 2007; there is no requirement to earn them.

How does recertification work in the new model of certification?

MCTS certifications will expire when Microsoft discontinues mainstream technology support for the product. Professional-series credentials (MCITP) will require a one-exam recertification every three years to maintain currency in the market. <I’ll add more on this next week…>

Are the Exchange beta exams going on now?

The 70-236 beta is complete. The betas for exams 70-237 and 70-238 are coming up shortly.

Can the new Exchange 2007 exams be used as electives in any other certification path?

Exam 70-236, the Exchange 2007 TS exam, may be used as a general elective for MCSA and MCSE on Windows Server 2003.

When will we get our results from 71-236?

Expect that those will be distributed next week (week of February 20).
