Skype Translator Welcomes Brazilian Portuguese

Starting today, Skype Translator adds Brazilian Portuguese to its list of languages for speech-to-speech translation. You can now connect with people across the world using Skype to translate your conversations from or to Portuguese from any of the other supported languages — Chinese Mandarin, English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. You can also IM in 50+ languages supported by Microsoft Translator.

Since it was launched just one year ago, Skype Translator has succeeded in connecting people across geographies and languages. Originally only supporting English and Spanish, and available only to people using Windows 8.1, in the last year it has added five new languages and has been integrated into Skype for Windows desktop. We have also found that it can be a powerful tool to help the deaf and hard of hearing.

If you have any stories you’d like to share about how you’ve used by Skype Translator, we’d love to hear them! You can post them on social media using the hashtag #SkypeTranslator, or share them in the Skype Community Forum. This forum, along with Skype Support, can also be used to get technical support.
