AppFabric Caching now live!!!

I just got an email from David Makogon, claiming that his Azure portal had refreshed itself, and AppFabric Caching was now available as an option. I was so excited, I had to check it out for myself.

So I go to my portal, and, lo and behold, there it is! FINALLY!

<more trumpets blaring than at the royal wedding>

Another thing worth noting is that you can have up to a 4GB cache… nice!

If you want to simply add this functionality to an existing namespace, just select the namespace, and choose “Modify Namespace” from the buttons on top.

This is a HUGE important piece of functionality, if you are using SQL as the ASP.NET session state provider, switch to this provider immediately! It will increase performance while reducing connections to your DB and reducing DB workload, allowing your DB to work more efficiently.

Enjoy!
