SOS: Request for feedback

I have asked in the past, but wanted to ask again as it has been a while and there are different people looking at this blog now.

Does anyone have any feedback on the SOS debugger extension?  I am looking for things like:

  • What commands are missing that would be really useful
  • Can any commands be changed to be more helpful, if so how
  • Is there functionality that you would really like to see included that isn’t there, for example hang analysis

I’d love to hear any feedback that you may have.  And keep in mind Update coming for SOS.

How about adding back the ability in the dumpheap command to get back objects in a particular generation?

  2. Marc Sherman says:

Have !ip2md show the full assembly name and method name.

  3. Richard says:

Is there any easy way to know which domain one object is in?  Like !do can show the domain of this object?

  4. Richard,

Take a look at the !FindAppDomain command.  That should do what you are looking for.

  5. Richard says:

    Great for "FindAppDomain".

How about list all objects belongs to one specified app domain? That would be useful for troubleshooting some web sites that sharing one application pool.

Not sure if this is still being viewed…

Bring SOS for .net 1.1 and 2.0 in synch. The 1.1 released with WinDBG has many new commands that the 2.0 version doesn’t has.

When doing !eeheap -gc, can we also get size of each generation?
