I'm visiting my girlfriend for a week in Dayton, Ohio. She's doing an internship here for a few months, and it's been definitely quite strange. We're both from Toronto, Ontario, and we both went to school at the University of Waterloo (she's in Optometry, I studied Computer Science), and being in Dayton is definitely quite a culture difference. For me, Seattle is not that different from Toronto; there are, in fact, quite a few Waterloo grads working at Microsoft, and there are quite a few Canadians in Seattle as well. Dayton, however, is quite a different story.
But, we did spot this:
I couldn't believe that there was a Timmy's in Dayton, of all places! The inside was so nice, much nicer than any Timmy's I've been to in Toronto! It was quite something. And doing some research, there are at least 10 Timmy's within a 10 mile radius!
The crazy thing? I couldn't find a Starbucks anywhere.
I'll be using this week to catch up on some work, and hopefully finish up a couple of blog drafts that I have sitting around. There is absolutely nothing to do in Dayton. When I told this airport guy that I was here on vacation, he gave me a funny look and said, "Why are you vacationing in Dayton?"
