Meet MS Gooroo – the new IT talent network building technology careers

Melbourne 14 May, 2014 – MS Gooroo, https://msgooroo.com, the online community for technology professionals is on a path to disrupt the IT recruitment industry, forever.

MS Gooroo bucks the saturated generic job board trend with its vision to build a global source of IT talent using complex data science to accurately match people to jobs, careers, companies and training.

A global skills search

MS Gooroo is initially targeting technologists who have some proven  skills with the Microsoft technology stack. With over 10 million Microsoft-specific jobs advertised each year and about 100 million IT professionals in this category, MS Gooroo is expecting to leap frog what has been a slow-to-innovate, recruitment sector.

No other true professional network exists where these technologists can come together to connect with one another, promote themselves, develop their skills, take control of their personal brand and technology career and most importantly, be presented with the right opportunities matched to them.

Digital veteran and MS Gooroo Chairman & Founder Greg Muller explains, “It has become apparent that current recruitment processes are broken. Companies are sick and tired of the expensive, hit and miss process. Our matching capability will deliver the most accurate match to a company and their needs.”

The razor-sharp focus of MS Gooroo brings a community of like-minded talent together to foster sharing, collaboration and to become recognized for what they’ve done. MS Gooroo represents an opportunity to build a personal brand.

“Building a brand and thinking about next steps in a career is not always something that feels natural to this segment. Typically  they’ve had to rely on their ‘hard skills’ to find work. MS Gooroo couples verified hard skills with an individual’s ‘softer side’ to give a 360 degree view, something that companies find costly and time consuming to compile, quite often after it’s too late”, explains Muller.

MS Gooroo’s focus is centred on creating tools for talent (members) to help them chart the next steps in their career. Members can decide who has access to view their information, who's allowed to contact them (so they don’t get annoyed by endless recruiter requests) and what companies they want to work for.

Building careers of dreams

While some IT professionals may have a clear sense of where their future is heading, many are not sure about which path to take. MS Gooroo’s Career Planner plots possible career paths by filling in the gaps between what skills individuals have now and where they want to see themselves in the future.

MS Gooroo’s initial models have been based on complex  statistical analysis of over 1,000,000 Microsoft-related job ads from around the globe, deploying advanced data analytics borrowed from cancer research. The technology, built in Melbourne maps the relationships between over 3,000 technology skills, roles (and their derivations), salary, experience and region which are then mapped to Microsoft competencies, tools and platforms.

MS Gooroo’s statistics engine maps career salary curves, providing members with the unique opportunity to project their future earnings. Members can help plan for their future and be referred  to targeted training courses and certifications, knowing that their income generating potential will increase with added experience and skills .

MS Gooroo VP Technology, Terence Siganakis, explains its innovative approach. “Our ability to categorize familiarity and experience at the skill  level for a particular role is quite novel. Our focus on the Microsoft tech job market means that our models and algorithms are heavily tuned for  nderstanding technical skills, without having to worry about misclassification for other roles.”

MS Gooroo will be using personality assessment tools and verification to round out the talent’s online profile. Coupling that information with an environment where members can connect and share knowledge means that employers will get a more complete view of the individual, thus reducing the risk and increasing the speed of the hiring process.

MS Gooroo launched a beta version of the product early this month and is inviting talent to begin to build their profile and invite colleagues. A constant stream of new benefits and features are expected to be rolled out over the coming weeks. About 1,000,000 Microsoft-related technology
jobs are now available via MS Gooroo from companies around the world.

Employer functionality will be released in June. Employers interested in forming part of a foundational benefits program are encouraged to contact the MS Gooroo team at hi@msgooroo.com
