MIEE Spotlight- Kristy Hill (Griffin)

On today's MIEE Spotlight we are taking a look at the work of Year 3 Class Teacher and Computing Coordinator, Kristy Hill from Bolsover Church of England Junior School.

Since becoming an MIE Expert in 2015, Kristy has embarked upon an innovative journey which has led both herself and her school to revolutionise their teaching and learning and classroom practice; leading Bolsover to become a Microsoft Showcase School. The school have led the way in their use of OneNote Class Notebook and the pupils love using the tool as they get to 'collaborate with their friends' and 'get to save paper!' True Eco-warriors at Bolsover! For staff, the ease of sharing collaboratively using Staff Notebooks has saved the teachers time and money on resources. Kristy says that her students are far more engaged when using OneNote and the use of the 'digital notebook' empowers all abilities of children to be able to collaborate, record and edit their learning.

As well as this, Kristy uses Sway in the classroom to provide independent learning resources for her students, that she embeds into OneNote, that can be accessed within a lesson for instant support.

One of the most recent additions to Kristy's classroom has been the use of Skype in the Classroom to Mystery Skype schools around the world, such as California! Truly connecting her classroom to the world! Kristy also leads in the way in her local area by opening the school doors and hosting events to inspire and support other teachers. Due to Kristy's great expertise and innovation, she was chosen as one of the top teachers in the UK to attend Microsoft's Global Teacher Exchange in 2016 in Budapest, to share her great practice with teachers all across the globe!
