Build your first Windows 8 App at the upcoming Swiss MSDN Hands-on Labs

After giving our Swiss developers a first preview of the upcoming Windows 8 client at our two developer conferences Windows TechConference and Shape – The App Conference, it’s now time to to get our hands on the developer tools and create our first Windows 8 app! Our evangelist Ken Casada will guide you through the process at the MSDN Hands-on Lab ‘Building your first Metro-Style app with Windows 8 and Visual Studio 11’.

Windows 8 offers a new programming platform that enables developers to write rich applications that are equally at home on desktop PCs, tablets, and other devices. Known as “Metro-style apps,” apps that leverage this new platform can be written in HTML and JavaScript or with XAML and C#, VB, or C++. The HTML programming model allows developers familiar with HTML5 and JavaScript to leverage their skills to build apps that can be offered through the Windows Store, while the XAML programming model provides an environment that feels familiar to Silverlight and WPF developers

During this MSDN Hands-on Lab you will first get a short introduction explaining you the peculiarities of new development platform for Metro Style applications and the coexistence with the current development technologies. You will then have the time to try out to build a Metro Style application using the language and technology you prefer. In fact you will have the opportunity to choose between two versions of the same lab: the one based on HTML and JavaScript and the one based on XAML and C#.

By coming to the lab you will gain the skills needed to write compelling and store-ready Metro applications and as always there will be plenty of time for questions and interesting discussions. The biggest opportunity ever is called “Windows Store” and is waiting for you!
