If you spent your week-end buried under snow just like me you must be thinking about only one thing : SKIING !
The ski resorts are just about to open and this App of the Week is here to help you have the best winter season ever. Let me walk you through “Swiss Snow Report” for Windows 8.
When you open it you are presented a very sleek home screen with tiles to access the list of all ski resorts, your favorites, a map over Switzerland but also a list of winter activities you might enjoy: Ski, Snowboard, Sledging, Snow Parks, Cross Country Skiing and Winter Hiking!
After selecting of the options you are presented a list with all the ski resorts matching your choice. You can of course sort the results by alphabetical order, but also with regards to the snow depth, temperature, number of open runs or region. Here you really get a quick overview of the different stations you might be interested in with all the relevant information.
When selecting a resort you get a lot of really useful information, not only about the current weather, snow conditions or open runs, but also what the opening hours are, the price of the day ticket, season openings and much more about the station. And of course you also have access to webcam views to check that the ski slopes are looking good!
If you want to access you a station more quickly from within the application you can add it to your favorites. But if you always want to get the latest info from your favorite locations you also can pin them to your start screen to see the temperature, snow conditions and amount of open ski-runs in a great live tile.
What I love with this app is that you can quickly get the latest information from your favorite place and yet you can also discover new places by browsing through the app and checking out the available runs and prices. I really recommend it to all winter sport lovers out there!
