First Microsoft Innovation Center Launched in Switzerland

MIC RapperswilOn 5 December 2008 Microsoft Switzerland and HSR Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil launched the first Microsoft Innovation Center in Switzerland. The Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC) Rapperswil is located in the HSR Campus. Collaboration between HSR and Microsoft started in July 2005 in the form of a Swiss Software Solution Center. For the past three years the Center has successfully supported Swiss software manufacturers with technical workshops and consulting engagements.

Success of the collaboration was recognized by Microsoft Corporation and the Center was accepted to become the first MIC is Switzerland. MIC is a global program to foster growth of innovation and local software economies. The network includes 110 MICs in 60 countries. MICs provide students, developers, architects, IT proffessionals and researchers access to world-class facilities, trainers, consultants and programs. By joining the global network, the MIC Rapperswil benefits from global visibility, exchange of experiences and frame of a globally operated program.

Each MIC designs its offering based on the needs of the local software economy. MIC Rapperswil services are targeted for Software Developers, Architects and IT-Project managers. The three cornerstones of MIC Rapperswil offering are: 1) Technical Hands-on Workshops, 2) Company Courses and 3) Consulting, Coaching and Proof of Concepts. Operations focus on the latest Microsoft products and technologies such as Visual Studio 2008, .NET Compact Framework, Silverlight, Windows Mobile, SQL Server 2008, 2007 Office system and Windows Azure Cloud Services Platform.
