Tesco.com and Innovation

Paul Dawson’s long blog entry on the Tesco @ Home story, an exercise in innovation is worth a read for a few reasons:

  1. Paul is a very good writer and speaks in plain English
  2. It’s a good example of innovating your way out of the current economic climate
  3. He enacts Carbone’s Law - loyalty+experience=advocacy
  4. The whole post is a great insight in to how projects like this truly work.

On that last one, it’s a fine example of when you take away the million dollar projects and consultants and put a few smart people in a room and you get something extraordinary. Nick Lansley from Tesco is a great guy who balances innovation and the commercial needs of Tesco.com – together with Conchango they’re revolutionising online shopping.

….and then they delivered perhaps the best demo of PDC (don’t tell Sinofsky) – wind forward to 1h 34 mins

Well done guys. You rocked the house.
