Indexer Status Gadget for Vista

I just read the latest post on the engineering (Windows) 7 blog and it was one close to my heart. Indexing in Vista is a great asset but also something I’ve tweaked to ensure it doesn't adversely affect the performance of my machine.

You can get lots of details in the post about the who and why of indexing but the little nugget I took away was the Indexer Status Gadget. It is written by one of the Windows product team and gives you a quick way to view the number of items indexed. It also allows you to pause indexing, or to make it run full-speed (without backing off). Nice.
