Want to know more about Microsoft data centers? J. Nicholas Hoover’s Seeding The Cloud is a good place to start. He was lucky enough to get a tour around a our San Antonio data center that he remarks is a Quincy class size as opposed to Dublin-class or Chicago-class. I like his military naming approach :)

Why should we care about these things? Well it’s that Cloud Computing thing again. It’s going to require some honking big data centers and as the post says, only a few companies like Microsoft, Google and IBM have the capability to do this stuff at this scale. The scale we’re talking here is 475,000 square feet.

What’s it all going to be used for? Come to the PDC to find out more :)
