McLaren using Vista
I heard about this project some time ago and it's great to see it has come to fruition. The guys are McLaren have been in the press a little over the last few weeks but this has nothing to do with that - more to do with one of their subsidiaries using Office 2007, SQL 2005 and Vista to build an electronic control unit (ECU) for F1 World Championship cars.
In the spring of 2006, the FIA—the governing body of Formula One—invited manufacturers of automotive electronics to propose a standardized ECU for inclusion in all Formula One cars for the 2008, 2009, and 2010 championships. McLaren Electronic Systems invited Microsoft to collaborate on its successful bid for the ECU technology.
I expect the usual barbs about F1 cars blue screening, blah blah but lets get serious - the McLaren boys are not known for cutting corners so this is a fine endorsement of our technology IMHO.
