Windows Live beta bonanza

thanks to Scott Lovegrove for the heads up on the new builds of Windows Live Writer beta 2, Messenger 8.5 and Windows Live Mail

WLW is by far my favourite app from Microsoft in a long time and the beta 2 has some great new features.

New Authoring Capabilities

  • Inline spell checking
  • Table editing
  • Ability to add categories
  • Page authoring for WordPress and TypePad
  • Support for excerpts and extended entries
  • Improved hyperlinking and image insertion
  • Paste Special

Integration and Compatibility

  • SharePoint 2007 support
  • New APIs enabling custom extensions by weblog providers
  • Automatic synchronization of local and online edits
  • Integration with Windows Live Gallery
  • Support for Blogger Labels

  • New look and feel
  • Available in 6 languages
  • Improved accessibility and keyboard support
  • Many other frequently requested enhancements!

Windows Live Spaces, WordPress, and TypePad have all taken advantage of the Provider Customization API to expose additional service-specific features within the Writer UI. Hope this gives you the date publish option Dennis!

off to install - the guys at Liveside have all the inside news if you want more.

  2. Thanks for the heads-up on the new beta of Writer.  I gave it a shot upon first release and it wasn’t quite ready.  It seems as if it’s come a long way.

I’ve been using Live Writer for a while now and even this earlier beta was pretty good, especially knowing more was to come.  I doth rock!
