Why I work here: Respected companies 2005

“For seven successive years, General Electric has topped the table of the world’s most respected companies. But for the first time, it has been pipped to the post by Microsoft”

A survey conducted by PwC polled 954 CEO across 25 countries this year and Microsoft came out at the top – with lots of praise for innovation. One published comment was “”the company is the first and best in the world. They have a strong base and employee satisfaction”.

Couldn’t agree more on the last bit – I spent last week talking to a number of customers about how our flexible working approach enables me to work when and where it’s most appropriate – be that at work, on the tube, at home, in Caffe Nero or at my parents home. It’s a combinaton of philosophy and providing the technology to support this. I think those two things combined provide our workforce with competitive advantage and can do the same for many other organisations, regardless of size.
