microsoft teched usa – june 7-10

If you haven’t yet registered for TechEd 2010, you’ll want to make sure you sign up soon! This year’s TechEd USA is from 06/7-10 and will be located in New Orleans, LA. You can get more information about the event here: https://www.microsoft.com/events/techednorthamerica/.

A few of the guys from my team will be in New Orleans and will be presenting on a number of topics ranging from SharePoint Ribbon Development (Paul Stubbs), Developing for SharePoint Online (Chris Mayo), Integrating SharePoint and CRM (Girish Raja), and Integrating SharePoint, Office & SAP (Donovan Follette). Make sure you stop by and check out their sessions and chat with them!

I’ll be presenting a couple of what I feel are interesting topics at this event.

The first is about how Office Business Applications (OBAs) are evolving with the innovations in Office and SharePoint 2010 and with some of the movements in cloud computing (think Azure and oData). The title for the session is: Developing Office Business Applications with Microsoft Office 2010 and Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010. While the abstract for the session is fairly generic to OBA, the things I’d like to cover in this session will be:

  • Revisiting OBA definition and architecture
  • Discussing how OBA has evolved
  • Walking through three developer patterns that highlight:
    • Client extensibility
    • SharePoint Client Object Model
    • BCS
    • Azure & oData

Specific information on this session is as follows:

The second is about how you can integrate SharePoint 2010 and Azure—something that is more up and coming. The session is entitled SharePoint and Azure: How Do They Play Together? This session will discuss how these two technologies intersect. I’d like to cover the following in this session:

  • Brief lap around Azure
  • Getting started developing Azure for SharePoint
  • Walking through three ways of integrating SharePoint and Azure

I am also shooting to have a few copies of the forthcoming Professional SharePoint 2010 Development (Wrox) and Beginning SharePoint 2010 Development to give away.

Hope to see you all there in New Orleans!
