Tell us who you are and your role in the company:
Director of Product Management.
What did you do before creating your company?
Design Manager at PayPal.
How do you feel being the most promising ‘Startup of the Day’ per Microsoft BizSpark?
Excited! We are working hard on creating great products so it’s nice to be recognized by BizSpark.
What is your company’s mission?
To create the best movie information and showtimes web site and mobile apps.
Tell us about your funding history. Are you currently looking for funding? If so, how much?
We’ve raised a $2MM A round in 2008, and then a $5MM B round in 2009. We are not currently looking for more funding.
How many employees do you have? How many developers?
We have 40 employees, 15 of who are on the dev team.
Are you hiring?If yes, what are you hiring for and where?
Yes, currently hiring a Sr. Product Manager for Mobile, a Mobile Application Engineer and a Sr. QA Engineer.
Which platform are you building on?Why?
We are building on many platforms, including the web, iPhone, Android and BlackBerry, but we are currently focused on building a Windows Phone 7 app because we are really excited about that platform.
Where do you see opportunities today in the Software/Internet area?
Mobile and location-oriented services are rapidly changing how people access and share information. I think there is a huge amount of growth interesting products that leverage this.
What do you think about the BizSpark Program?
It’s great! It’s helped us get access to software, tools and devices and get help on developing our apps.
Do you have any advice for young Software entrepreneurs?
Spend less time talking about what you want to do, and just start building something. Think big, but start small and iterate.
Who’s your role model?
My father for teaching me the values of honesty, hard work and diligence, while keeping a sense of humor.
