Known Issue In Cumulative Updates For SQL Server 2008 RTM CU 7, SP1 CU 3, SP1 CU 4 In SQL Agent when Upgrading

Dear SQL Server Customers,

We have recently learned of degraded customer experience with

· The release version of SQL Server 2008 Cumulative Update 7

· SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Cumulative Update 3 and Cumulative Update 4

Build range below.

 

Customers using SQL Server 2008 SQL Agent may see the symptom as described in KB 976761 or KB 976953. These KB article provides details of available workarounds and information about hotfix packages which rectify the issue as they become available. For SQL Server 2008 RTM customers we anticipate releasing the fix next week.

A hotfix solution may be obtained by clicking on the download link on the top of KB 976761 or KB 976953; then selecting the package with file name “SQL_Server_2008_SP1_CU_Updated_Ref_KB_976761”. Customers have the option to apply the work around as described in KB 976761 for a cluster environment and KB 976953 in a stand-alone environment.
