Dear Customers,
The 6th cumulative update release, "CU6", for SQL Server 2012 SP3 is now available for download at the Microsoft Downloads site. Please note that registration is no longer required to download Cumulative updates.
To learn more about the release or servicing model, please visit:
Notes:
CU6 was also released as a SQL Server Security Bulletin on 11/8/2016, KB3194724. Please see MS16-136 for details. As a result of this, you may already have CU6 installed as part of that security bulletin release and installation of this CU is unnecessary. If you do attempt to install CU6 after MS16-136, you may receive the following message: There are no SQL Server instances or shared features that can be updated on this computer. This message indicates that CU6 is already installed and no further action is required.
Additionally, note the package name for CU6 (SQLServer2012-KB3194724-x64.exe) contains the security update MS16-136 KB number (3194724), not the CU6 KB number (3194992). This can be ignored as a single package services both release channels.
