We had some technical issues at the previous Windows 8 webinars. We will be trying another method to run through the Windows 8 demos. A description of each event follows.
Getting Started with Windows 8
An intense 2 hour session covering all the major new features added to Windows 8 for Metro style apps.
Design for Windows 8: Metro
Introduction to the Metro design language and silhouette. Get an overview of the controls available and how to best layout your app. The Hub, Wheel, Spoke information hierarchy will also be covered.
Introducing Windows 8 Store
This session will introduce the Windows 8 store, the business models supported and how to add the various models into your application. We will cover implementing and testing in-app purchases, trials, subscriptions and listings.
We will also cover common pitfalls and best practises for getting your app published and listed.
Charms & Contracts in your Windows 8 App
Learn how to delight your users by allowing them to discover and share content from your application. As well as bringing them back to your app by providing entry points from other parts of the system.
App Excellence Labs
We are excited to announce that the App Excellence Labs are back again for developers in SA. The App Excellence Labs is the only channel for SA developers to gain earlier access to the Windows Store. And of course, gain valuable feedback and advice around enhancing your great Metro user experience and much more.
The lab is a 1-hour engagement with a trained Microsoft Services Engineer who will run your app through a series of tests based on a quality checklist to ensure your app is (or will be) in top-notch shape when you submit. You will also get a chance discuss ways to make your app even better and you will get answers to any questions you might have.
If your app meets the criteria then you will get a token to register your developer account and (once you have been verified and all that) you will be able to submit your app to the Windows store.
If your app does not meet the criteria, nothing is lost. You will still end up with a much better app and you will be able to submit it when registration opens for all developers.
