Windows Phone–What’s happening?

What an exciting couple of months it has been with Nokia releasing the Lumia 800 locally and two excellent launches preparing the stage. Application developers creating tons of applications locally and a huge amount of our favourite applications coming to the store, this is going to be an exciting year.

We will be running a number of events between now and June this year and here are just some of the highlights:

- Windows Phone Advanced Workshops: These workshops will start running from mid February till the end of June in various cities around South Africa. The topics will range from Game Development for the Phone, GIS Applications, Metro Design principles and more specialised topics to help you turn your great ideas into reality.

- Windows Phone Hackathons: For those who want to get their hands on some code we will also be running Hackathons where we will churn out an application in 48 hrs. There will be prizes for the best applications written at the event that are submitted to the Market Place for testing.

- For those who are already smashing away at the keyboard writing Windows Phone applications we want to know about it. Give us a shout tell us about your great applications so we can let other people know about it.

Now for those who haven’t started developing here is a link to get you rolling and building some amazing applications: here

If you aren’t convinced yet just have a look at the winner of the R50 000 prize for his Windows Phone Application. The most addicting sheep game is great fun and well worth a try. If you like it, which i am sure you will, buy it and support local. The game is found here

Keep an eye out on the blog for more details about the events and for local applications that are being built.
