TFS/ALM/Tester/Scrum Courses from Notion (in Cape Town too!)

We regularly get requests for details on training around Team Foundation Server and the Application Lifecycle Management aspects of Visual Studio 2010. This is largely due to the lack of courses around these areas via the traditional training channels. A few months ago, Notion Solutions, one the premier ALM partners from the United States, formed a local office and they have started to offer some of their courses locally. This way you don’t have to fly for 30 hours to attend the training.

Effective Application Lifecycle Management Using Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server 2010 – End to End Training (ALM End-to-End Class)
This four-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to improve the development practices of their entire organization and team. This course covers a broad set of features provided with Visual Studio 2010 to assist your team with application design, test management and execution, development standards and collaboration, automated build and release management, database schema management and test lab management. This course covers all of the most important features without going overly deep. By the end of the course, students are equipped to better understand how Visual Studio 2010 can be used within their organizations.

Improve Software Testing with Visual Studio, Microsoft Test Manager and Team Foundation Server 2010 (Tester Class)
This four-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to use the latest testing tools provided by Visual Studio 2010 to improve their ability to manage and execute test plans. Test case creation and management using Test Manager 2010 will be covered, as well as test execution and automation practices. Creating and managing virtual lab environments using Lab Management 2010 will be discussed within the context of test plan and execution. By the end of the course, students are equipped begin planning the implementation of Visual Studio 2010 for improving testing practices within their organizations.

Scrum in Depth 2 Day Course
The Scrum in Depth (SID) course is the first significant update of the Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) course that Ken Schwaber introduced and shared in 2002. As in the original course, the framework, mechanics, and roles of Scrum are covered. The course then goes further by teaching students how to use Scrum to optimize value, productivity, and the total cost of ownership of systems and products. Students will learn through instruction and team-based exercises, and will be challenged to think on their feet to better understand what to do when they return to their workplaces.

Professional Scrum Developer 5 Day Course
This course teaches attendees how to use modern software engineering practices to develop an increment of completed, potentially shippable functionality. They will be taught how to do so within the Scrum framework, working as part of self-organizing cross-functional teams, doing iterative, incremental development. The class is conducted by trainers that are skilled in using development practices and tools within a Scrum context. These individuals are assessed, trained, mentored, and monitored by Scrum.org and training organizations as Scrum Developer Trainers.
