I’m happy to announce the availability of Silverlight 3 and the Release Candidate of Expression Blend 3 and SketchFlow today. In addition, the full family of Expression 3 products will be available within thirty days.
With version 3, Silverlight rounds out a feature list that delivers innovation and benefits to key areas of rich internet applications, including:
· Support for true high definition video
· Improved line of business support, including data validation and element-to-element databinding
· Pixel shaders for deeper rendering control
· More than 90 controls and themes, with source code and unit tests for many of them in the Silverlight Toolkit
Previously, I wrote about SketchFlow. SketchFlow has ignited a debate in the design world, changing ideas about established procedures and tools as it enables a single workflow from prototype to production and turning sketches into customer demos, prototypes and finished applications.
Our customer list continues to grow – recently, Silverlight helped bring the Roland Garros French Open 2009 and Wimbledon 2009 to the world. Next winter, the 2010 Olympics will once again offer detailed event coverage in high definition video. Continental Airlines is using Silverlight to improve their customer service experience. MGM is using Deep Zoom to build the official Stargate site, which enables fans to immerse themselves in the most detailed television production set ever built.
And today, NBC Sports announced that they will use Silverlight as their predominant technology for delivering online high definition video across their sports franchises.
