The CLR in NZ for Application Compatibility

We have a member of the .NET CLR team coming to NZ who is going to work with customers to ensure that applications that work on the .NET Framework 1.1 will work on the new 2.0 release.

The Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 builds on the success of the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 and 1.1 to provide the best runtime environment for Web and Microsoft Windows client applications. Microsoft's compatibility goal for .NET Framework 1.1 applications is that they should work smoothly on the .NET Framework 2.0 except for a set of documented changes. Please join Kit George (a Program Manager and Developerfrom the Common Language Runtime team in Redmond) as he walks you through the most frequently encountered of these issues, best strategies for avoidance and their work arounds.

Kit George has been a Program Manager on the Base Class Libraries section of the Common Language Runtime Team, for almost 5 years. Prior to joining Microsoft, Kit worked for EDS on a range of applications including a medical symptom grouping library, and an automobile factory tracking system, before becoming an instructor in Visual Basic. Since joining Microsoft, Kit has worked on compatibility guidelines and tools to help identify version changes between assemblies, and has been an integral part of determining the BCL features in the V2.0 product.
