"Hello, World" and an introduction

Welcome to my new blog! I have actually been blogging for quite a while already, but as I’ve recently got my “blue badge” and joined the ranks of Microsoft it seemed an appropriate time to relocate my blog.

I’ve joined as an Application Development Consultant – check out our Team Site to see what we do – which means that I’ll be doing all sorts of work with customers on the Microsoft product and tool set. As a result, I’m sure the content of this blog will vary wildly; from high level architectural discussions down to quick posts on using a specific SQL statement (watch this space!). I hope this keeps it interesting, rather than confusing readers...

One thing I should warn you about: I’m a bit enthusiastic about Software Factories, and therefore reserve the right to rant on and on about them when you’re least expecting it! This subject encompasses all sorts – from automation and integration with developer tools to improving development processes. One of my favourite things about the concept of a Software Factory is that it is still not fully defined – so I see it as anything that helps move software development towards an industrialised, repeatable, faster, cheaper, better, and more interesting goal.

If you have any thoughts on any of my postings, please feel free to leave a comment – and I’ll do my best to respond.

Finally, the disclaimer – please bear this in mind when reading this blog;
