Silverlight Games: Building a profitable web site

How do you build a profitable web site?  Is it expensive to get started, or can you do it as a hobby and build value over time?  Should you just use Silverlight or should you be able to consume and utilize any game type that can be consumed by browsers?

Let’s take a look at sites that support game designers and their creations, with an eye on what appears to be money makers:

1. XNA Community Games, this site by Microsoft supports the XNA Game Studio created games, for a subscription of about $100 a year you can get access to the whole process and be able to sell your game via the Community Games website.  Microsoft takes 30%, and you keep 70%, not bad.  Also it is not Silverlight based, nor does it support web based systems.  However, you can use XNA with Silverlight (no matter what you may have heard, it does work)

2. A great site for getting involved with Silverlight: https://www.nxtgenug.net/, however, it appears to be rather limited on potential for large money making portal.  Some advertisements for jobs, and programming products.  Not bad.

3. Do you go to any sites that appear to be making money some way?  Is your site making money?  Comment with your site URL, and if it fits in my expectations: No porno (my decision), and remember this is a corporation blog so I have to be careful of the material I put on it.  I will review the comments be happy to post comments about your game site.
