IBC is one of the largest conferences and exhibitions for the electronic media industry and we’ll be there starting this Friday in Amsterdam!
Today, in advance of the show, we made some announcements about Silverlight and IIS Smooth Streaming, including:
· Plans to release Internet Information Services (IIS) Media Services 3.0, enabling delivery of true HD, live and on-demand IIS Smooth Streaming video to Silverlight-based media players within the next 30 days.
· New and existing customers – including Canal+, France 24, NBCSports, Sat 1, ProSieben and TV 2 – to adopt Silverlight and IIS Smooth Streaming for the highest quality online experiences.
· An early preview of new media-specific features planned for Silverlight 4.
· The release of the IIS Smooth Streaming HTTP based Transport Protocol and Protected Interoperable File Format (PIFF) specification under the Microsoft Community Promise to ensure openness and industry interoperability.
You can read our full press release here, but there’s nothing better than seeing it all with your own eyes. So if you’re at IBC, stop by the Topaz Lounge (upstairs by Halls 2 and 3), and we’ll show it all to you in person. Also, several of our partners including Level 3 Communications LLC, TwoFour Digital, Envivio Inc. and iStreamPlanet Co., will be in our booth showing how they have been involved with Microsoft in delivering some of the world’s premier sporting and entertainment events such as Wimbledon, the Tour de France and the Athletics World Championships.
