Expression Web 3 tools simplify debugging and Silverlight video encoding

The upcoming version 3 of Microsoft® Expression® Web gives you new tools to produce high-quality, standards-based Web sites faster and easier: built-in support for today’s Web standards, sophisticated CSS design capabilities, and visual diagnostic tools.

With support for a range of scripting and server-side languages, Expression Web provides the flexibility to use the right mix of essential technologies. Expression Web supports PHP, HTML/XHTML, XML/XSLT, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.NET , ASP.NET AJAX, Silverlight, Flash, Windows Media, and Photoshop as well as integration with Microsoft Visual Studio and Expression Studio.

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the upcoming features in Expression Web 3:

SuperPreview provides cross-browser visual diagnostics

One thing that we hear from Web developers is that debugging their sites for accurate rendering on multiple browsers is time-consuming. Many developers have either a dedicated machine or virtual machine for browser testing, but with SuperPreview in Expression Web 3 you can debug your pages on multiple browsers (Internet Explorer 6 – 8 and Firefox) on the same machine that you use for development.

Snapshot Preview saves debugging time

Snapshot Preview provides a high-fidelity browser preview of local HTML, PHP, or ASPX pages that updates live as you edit your code, saving you the time and effort of loading the page in a browser for code changes. You can choose to preview the page in any installed browser at a wide range of resolutions.

Encode Silverlight video for Web streaming

Quickly encode and insert Silverlight video into your Web site with a wide range of encoding and transcoding features with the included copy of Expression Encoder 3. You can also chose from a set of skins for the video player that best matches your site graphics. Encoder supports high quality VC-1 and H.264 Silverlight video for Web streaming.

Encoding and inserting Silverlight video is as simple as choosing Insert> Media > Encode/Insert Silverlight Video or dragging the Silverlight video tool from the toolbox into Code or Design View.

You can then choose the source file and then encoding profile you want depending on the bandwidth and the device that will be displaying the media.
