Blogs are are great way for retailers to connect with their customers. Wal-Mart has launched CheckOutBlog.com to let employees post their opinions of products, advice on selecting environmentally sustainable food, their rants on the latest gadgets. The authors of the blog postings seem to be primarily buyers for the various categories and merchandising managers.
This is a great initiative by Wal-Mart and I see this as a means by which Wal-Mart could connect buyers with customers and help buyers tune in their choices based on customer feedback and preferences.
