Finally getting around to doing something I’ve wanted to do for a while… Creating my own blog.
As a graphics engineer part of the Flight Simulator team here at Microsoft, i feel that my knowledge keeps growing but i do not often have an outlet to express it to the world.
My first attempt was a computer graphics book “Shaders for Game Programmers and Artists” which have been released a few months ago. It essentially takes advantage of the RenderMonkey tool developed by ATI Technologies to devote itself only on the creation of shaders.
The whole writing experience was awesome, although I’ll have to say for anyone wanting to write their own technical books… Be prepared to spend more time writing than you thought it would take in the first place. The reality is that for a 400-500 page book, if you have 6 months to work on it, you’ll likely spend at least 20-30 hours/week to get it done. There is so much to do, from writing ,to making the code samples, to making illustrations,… It just won’t end… But it was still a fun experience nonetheless.
In the meantime, until i have the guts to write another book. I thought I’d follow the geeky trend and start my own blog. 🙂
