SharePoint and Chrome Provider Host Application (PHA) Cipher Issue (and Firefox)

A customer recently ran into an issue where their SharePoint 2016 ASP.NET provider hosted applications, running on Windows Server 2016, and IIS 10 started throwing crypto errors. In Chrome, we saw “The webpage at https://app-[GUID] might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new address. ERR_SPDY_INADEQUATE_TRANSPORT_SECURITY”. Antivirus for SharePoint 2013

This post is meant to be a follow up to my previous post regarding SharePoint Antivirus solutions. I’ve seen a number of questions lately asking about AV scanners that plug into SharePoint 2013, sometimes running on Windows Server 2012. As of today, the only product that has an RTM version of an antivirus solution for…

The specific step was 12.1.6301.0, which adds the new Search Federation webparts to a site’s webpart gallery….

Deleting files you don’t have permission to

I’ve been struggling with this one for a bit, but finally found the answer today. On one of my lab machines, I have two hard drives. At one point I was dual booting Server 2008 and Vista x64. I had no need for the Vista x64 system anymore, so I wanted to reclaim the disk space…

URLScan 3.0 Beta Released

For those of you who don’t know, Microsoft has a neat tool/utility out there called URLScan. It’s primary job is to block traffic on a server that you don’t want trafficing. 🙂 We’ve recently released the 3.0 beta version, which adds some new features. Prior to my life at MS, a team I worked on…

SharePoint and Kerberos

Some customers these days have requirements that say they should use Kerberos. It can be a daunting task to set up Kerberos in your environment. MS has published an article on TechNet that helps with this process. This document is a bit hard to find, so I’m hoping to make it easier to find via…
