Applies to computers that are running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008.

When you start a computer that is running Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Windows Server 2008 Service Pack (SP2), the computer stops responding and appears to hang at the “Applying User Settings” or “Applying Computer Settings” stage of the logon process.”

    I have an old 2000 system and now it won't accept my password.  It always worked before but now that it won't it cant even do a windows update or any of the other usual things.  Can you help PLEASE.   Thanks.
