What’s new in Windows 7 RC – Video

So earlier today I successfully moved from the Windows 7 beta to the Windows 7 RC with only a few minor problems that where fixed either in Action Center or running Windows Update.

I then stumbled upon this great video from Stephen Rose about what’s new in the Windows 7 RC, which is a great video if you want to discover what has changed.

Marlene – please see http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/windows-7/download.aspx for downlaod FAQ and details

"Can I upgrade directly from Windows Vista to the RC?

Yes. If you’re running Windows Vista, you can install Window 7 RC without having to back up and reinstall your programs and data. But to be on the safe side, please do backup your data before you start. "

    please note

"The RC is free and will be available at least through June 2009. However, because Microsoft isn’t providing technical support for the the RC, we strongly recommend that only experienced computer users sign up. How experienced? At minimum, you should be comfortable backing up a computer, formatting a hard drive, burning an ISO file to DVD, and installing an operating system from scratch. You should also be comfortable troubleshooting problems on your own."

  3. Can I upgrade directly from XP to RC, and if not how can I get to test RC on my PC?

    Hi Johnathan

    the FAQ at http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/windows-7/faq.aspx

"If you are running Windows XP, you’ll need to back up your data (preferably on an external device) and then do a clean installation of the Windows 7 Release Candidate. After installing Windows 7, you will need to reinstall applications and restore your files. If you need help with the installation process, please see the Installation Instructions. "

    hope that helps Rob
