An Easier Way to Download Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2

Psst! Looking for an easier way to download those huge Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2 files? Go grab the Microsoft Secure Content Downloader from Microsoft Research.

Microsoft Secure Content Downloader

All you have to do is pick your favorite flavor of Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2 and tell it where to save it.

Please note that this tool is a CTP technology that will expire on August 22, 2007 November 30, 2007.

In addition, you should note:

The Microsoft Secure Content Downloader (MSCD) is a peer-assisted download manager capable of securely downloading specific files. MSCD is intended for consumers who are downloading from a home PC, or business users whose computers are not behind a corporate firewall. If you use MSCD from behind a corporate firewall, you may be unable to download content, and may adversely affect other clients' ability to download content.

  1. Hi Rob,

This is great! Now if only there was a "MSCD.exe /autoresume" option so it could be easily scheduled to continue downloading during off-peak times 🙂

  2. Hi Rob,

    Thanks for the post.

Is there any other similar application to get any content from Microsoft Downloads, this would be great.
