Clarification on the Upgrade Process

It has recently come to my attention that some people have misunderstood the purpose of the upgrade packages we provide to move to the final shipping release of Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server (commonly known as the RTM version). The upgrade packages mentioned in this post (Upgrading to Team Foundation Server (RTM)) only simplify the upgrade process and do not include everything you need to complete it. Specifically, the upgrade packages do NOT include the RTM bits for Team Foundation Server. You must obtain those bits elsewhere and have a licensed product key. The upgrade packages only include utilities and documentation for the process.

    Hi Rob,

Though the upgrade process from Beta3 or RC to RTM is fully documented, the procedure for moving from an early release to RTM installed on a different machine is almost not mentioned. On "Visual Studio Team Foundation Admin Guide" is reported the "How to: Restore Team Foundation Server Data to a Different Server". I’m wondering if this documented procedure is ok for my purpose..
