Princess for a Day
My daughter sent me a link to this article about a Make-A-Wish wish (the 3,000th granted by the local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation since its inception 20 years ago) she helped grant for a young girl battling neuroblastoma. That Redmond Drama was able to help grant this wish is poignant on several levels, which are apparent when you read the article.
She dreamed of being a princess.
Last week, that dream came true.
So when 4-year-old Krystal Graylin of Bellevue and her family sit down today to celebrate Thanksgiving, they will have plenty of reasons to give thanks.
Chief among them: After chemotherapy, surgery and more chemotherapy, Krystal appears to be winning her battle with neuroblastoma, a form of cancer.
And then, there is the thanks to be given for a host of volunteers who came together last Saturday at Redmond High School to make her dream come true.
The school's drama department was just finishing its production of the musical ``Cinderella.''
Student Steph Caron, stage manager for the production, is a cancer survivor who knew the joy of having a wish granted. The Make-A-Wish Foundation, an organization that grants wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses, had sent her to New York City to see a production on Broadway.
