There are a few UI enhancements available from a couple of different device manufacturers for Windows Mobile 6.1:

HTC Touch phones- TouchFLO™ UI

Samsung Omnia- TouchWiz™ UI

Sony Ericison Xperia™ X1 - Panels UI

Sony publishes an SDK for the Xperia™ X1 - Panels UI available here.  They recently added support for Visual Studio 2008. From the blog post:

The Sony Ericsson Beta SDK for Windows Mobile 6.1 enables developers to create Xperia™ Panels and applications for Sony Ericsson's Xperia X1 phone and the new release, version 1.0.4, includes Microsoft® Visual Studio 2008 and Windows Vista OS compatibility and adds key mapping support to the Xperia X1 Device Emulator.

It is great to see Sony providing support for developers.  Hopefully developers will see an SDK for the other interfaces as well.

What is great to see is that all devices include GPS and Accelerometers as well.  Check out this link on how to work with the GPS on the HTC devices.
