Presentation on XNA GS at SIEGE

This past weekend I was very excited to present on XNA Game Studio 3.0 beta at a local game developers conference, the Southern Interactive Entertainment and Game Expo (SIEGE).  The session was Saturday night right before the live music party, which probably contributed to a packed room of local game developers attending the session:-).

Actually, there was a lot of excitement regarding XNA Game Studio in the room.  About 10% of the crowd (by a show of hands) who had Zune devices were very excited to learn about the Zune game development capabilities built into XNA Game Studio 3.0 beta.

Another topic that drew a lot of interest was XBOX Live Community Games.  This is where you and a few of your close game developing friends can create a game, have it peer reviewed, and then made available for purchase on XBOX Live by anyone (in the U.S. initially).  This link has an explanation of the process:

With Community Games on Xbox LIVE, XNA Creators Club Online members can use the Xbox LIVE Marketplace to submit their games to the XNA Creators Club Online Web site for distribution.

Other XNA Creators Club Online members will be given the opportunity to download, play, and review submitted games for conformity with the service’s Terms of Use.

Following successful completion of this process, the game will be added to the Global Games Catalog on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Then gamers in the U.S. who are connected to Xbox LIVE can play the game. Community Games on Xbox LIVE will become available to additional regions beginning in Holiday ’08.
